The Duke and Duchess of Sussexes’ Netflix documentary series ‘Harry and Meghan’ has been nominated for a prestigious industry award. At Legal Sportsbooks we have complied exclusive odds on who is favourite to win the award, with ‘Harry & Meghan’ coming out as front runners.
The Netflix doc is shortlisted for the best streaming non-fiction series at the Hollywood Critics Awards. The HCA TV Awards Ceremony will take place on Sunday 13th August.
The six-part series was released back in December 2022 and is the sole show the couple have produced so far since signing a multi-year deal with Netflix which is rumoured to be worth $100m (£77m).
This comes after the couple missed out on an Emmy nomination after originally being considered for the Outstanding Documentary and Non-fiction series.
When the show was released, it became the most-watched subscription television series of the year in the UK.
However, they do face a tough contest for the award alongside Prehistoric Planet, Rainn Wilson and the Geography of Bliss, Reinnervations, The 1619 Project and The Reluctant Traveler.
Commentary
A spokesperson for Legal Sportsbooks said: “The controversial documentary gained mass attention upon release at the end of last year. Harry & Meghan have received a lot of backlash for their ‘access all areas’ insight into the Royal family. Whilst many critics would say the documentary should be nominated for a ‘fictional series’ award, the sheer production value & money poured into the series makes it a front runner for the prestigious award.”
